Finch Feeders, also known as thistle
or Nyjer seed feeders are special feeders with small ports openings that
prevent excessive spillage other tube feeders may produce.
Nyjer seed,
thistle seed or niger seed is a tiny black seed with a high oil content. A
favorite of American goldfinches and other finches, it is imported from
India, Ethiopia, Myanmar or Nepal. Fairly expensive, however this seed does
not germinate if it falls to the ground so it will not produce weeds under
your feeder. Thistle feeders are especially loved by finches.
